Thoughts & Opinions | Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood.
Recently I have been seeing many posts across here about this wonderful pair, so I thought I would write down my thoughts.
In all of Magnus’s 400 years or more, I don’t think he would ever of thought that he would of ended up in the situation he is now. He’s lived so many lives, had so many relationships and flings. Even when he fell in love with his first ever girlfriend, then mourned her for years after her passing, I don’t think he would of expected to of loved like he has now, with Alec.
Within those few months, he and Alec had gone through more than anybody had ever been through in their entire lives. But despite the hardship, heartbreak, problems and everything they faced; they did it together, they leaned on one another. They created a bond which I personally don’t think even death itself could ever break.
Considering they are said to get married and have children, I think they will live a beautiful life and make even more beautiful memories along the way. Ones that Magnus can look back on and smile, as well as look at their child and see his Alec in that little boy or girl. Magnus will never be alone, those children will be his connection to Alec, as well as he will always know Alec is watching over them all.
Though I do worry, that when Alec does pass, that Magnus will harden and lose all feeling. I imagine Magnus would wait a few years, once their children are grown, then take away his immortality to be with Alec again.
Or if there is a war in the last book of TWP, if they both died together, in each others arms. Like the embracing couple of Pompeii.
When it comes to Alec passing away, I think a part of Magnus will die along with him. Magnus opened his heart, soul and whole life to this man. This man is his life now, no matter what. No matter where he is. I also believe that when Alec does pass away, he will do exactly the same as Will has done. He will wait on the shores of the other world, waiting patiently for his best friend and true love to join him again.
A headcanon in relation to Alec’s death, is this;
When Alec is on his death bed, surrounded by the ones he loves most, Isabelle comes forward passing him her ruby necklace with the inscription ‘Amor Verus Numquam Mortir’. She tells him to take it to his next life with him, so that he will never forget them, and that they love him. Alec holds the pendant close to his chest, but takes a deep breath and takes Magnus’s hand. He places the necklace in his palm and closes his fingers around it saying, “Keep this, it belonged to you once upon a time. And remember true love never dies, just like my love never will. I will carry it into the next world, where I will wait for you.” Then he dies.
